Proceed straight through the machine and give everything a light touch of detail. If anything catches your eye, it’s likely a place to investigate first. Otherwise, I’d consider using a CF card to see if it can pick it up—modern drives are much more reliable than older ones. My '92 board supports drive detection, and I’ve noticed similar features on some late '80s models too. It’s unlikely this will require extra manual work.

I attempted to use auto-detect, but it returned no results—it seems the drive isn’t recognized. The only time the system confirmed its presence was when I executed chkdsk via the DOS terminal after a failed recovery disk attempt.
