I was playing games on my PC while chatting via Discord. When I clicked a video link, the system slowed to very low frames or stopped entirely. The connection likely wasn’t the issue, but the link failed to load. I restarted the PC and it wouldn’t boot past the BIOS screen, which displayed a black screen. I tried reseating the GPU, unplugging and replugging the hard drive, but it still wouldn’t start Windows. I can access BIOS now. No one has any advice, just fix this without buying new parts. Everything works normally otherwise—it just won’t boot to Windows. I have one old hard drive and no other bootable drives, except flash drives, which I’m not sure will work. GTX 960 CPU Intel i5-4460, 3.20 GHz, stock cooler, Samsung 4096MB x2 RAM, old PC.

I checked online and found that using Shift+F8 should help enter safe mode, but the issue still persists. The black screen remains and recovery mode doesn’t load. It seems to be a Windows problem, possibly related to the operating system rather than the hard drive, since the drive is functioning.

I’m checking the system logs, running diagnostic tests, and verifying data integrity to ensure the hard drive is functioning properly.

I'm not sure if the hard drive is functioning, but it spins and is recognized by the BIOS.

Something occurred. I attempted to open it and let it close. After an hour of waiting on the black screen, Windows began repairing itself. I expected it to take a long time, so I decided to rest. When I came back, the automatic repair failed. Should there be another option to protect my data or should I have to reinstall Windows?
