Since the HMD doesn't handle heavy tasks while tethered, the system GPU takes over. Without tethering, the internal SoC performs well but falls short of the full tethered experience. The graphics aren't as detailed, and textures lack richness. It works fine for simple content, though. Robo Recall looks much better with a tether, but it's more enjoyable without the worry about the cable and lower quality. I rely heavily on FitXR and appreciate the convenience of no cable. There are trade-offs, but they're not as significant as you might think.

I'm still using my Rift S; the screens on the Quest 2 look great, though running it on a PC isn't ideal.

So how? Just finished a two-hour session in Cars 2. Everything works perfectly. Even with wireless, using the beat saber, it felt completely untethered. Of course, I’m coming from an older Acer WMR, but the game is a solid headset if you’re willing to put in some extra effort.
