Hi, I hope you're doing okay. I faced a problem with my PC after installing an old NVMe drive—it completely bricked the system (lights flashed red on CPU and RAM). I've seen this before with similar drives on other motherboards, but I didn't realize it was the NVMe issue until now. Are there any fixes? Like removing the CMOS battery or flashing the BIOS? My specs are: Ryzen 5 7600 M-si B650, Corsair vengeance 6000MHz, Cl30, RM850x PSU, Asrock 6700X. The old NVMe was a critical P1 component.

Remove the old NVMe disk and reset the CMOS via the connector or button shown in the motherboard guide... or simply take out the CR2032 cell for a couple of minutes to erase the CMOS.

You just inserted the battery after letting it sit for roughly 20 minutes, but the CPU and RAM indicators remain lit.

None of the motherboards were salvageable. This would be uncommon, yet it's conceivable that a significant issue with the drive might have damaged the CPU.

Additionally, I attempted to update the BIOS, but the motherboard refused to proceed.

The motherboards likely wouldn't be salvageable if the CPU is damaged. A fried CPU can also impact RAM and the motherboard itself.

I doubt it would break the RAM but certainly if the M.2 slot is connected to the chipset it could break the motherboard rather than the CPU. Its such an rare thing to actually happen its hard to really guess what's going on.
