Work on 10586.164 OS: Windows 10 the Numlock feature shuts down upon startup. It stays active during POST but turns off when the Windows logo appears. This was my first experience with Windows 10. After dual booting, Numlock would disable during GRUB setup. I removed Ubuntu completely and reinstalled Windows fully. Then I used Service Manager to disable Windows updates. Previously, I created two scripts—one reminded me to enable Numlock and another as a backup after login. It was frustrating and not very effective. I rely heavily on the Numpad and need a way for it to automatically activate itself in Windows. I also fixed boot manager tools (fixboot, fxmbr) and adjusted registry values, but those changes didn’t work. Any suggestions?

Check the BIOS configuration for the num lock option during startup. It seems Windows might be turning off num lock by default, which could be a software issue.

You typically control it via the BIOS settings. Attempt to switch it off and on several times using restarts.

Did you explore this registry adjustment? The guide at http://www.howtogeek.com/244606/how-to-e...uter-boots helped me before, and it resolved the issue.

Didn't realize numlock was enabled during startup. Check your BIOS settings for confirmation.
