The Microsoft Natural Keyboard model 1048 has stopped functioning properly. The Num Lock beeps when you press the button, and the light turns on and off when pressed. Only the Enter key seems to work, while all other keys are unresponsive except Delete, which behaves like it does. Is there a way to fix this issue or is it a Toast? The rest of the keyboard appears to be working fine. I could share a photo if that helps.

Consider using a different keyboard that has a verified working Numpad on your machine. Test the 1048 on another functional computer. Check if the issue is related to the keyboard or remains within the system. Use the built-in Windows troubleshooters; they might resolve the problem. Execute "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to locate and repair any faulty or corrupted Windows files.

It seems like you're questioning whether the Num Lock was activated by mistake.

I confirmed the lock on &7 several times, it dings but no one is home. As a network technician, I usually try moving it to check if the problem persists, but I lost focus and didn’t follow through. Maybe I’m getting old. It seems the keyboard functions fine on another PC, so I reinstalled it there and connected it to two different USB ports—it still doesn’t work. Any other suggestions? Pressing various # keys changes the cursor direction without any clear reason. The upper # keys above the letter keys seem to work?

Check the latest drivers from the ms website and install them. Look at the keyboard settings in your Windows installer.

I received some information that assisted with the issue. It hasn't been fully corrected yet, but it does function if I press ALT, Shift, and Num lock together each time I restart. I plan to reload the OSP to attempt a permanent fix.

A solution that has helped me is accessing the device manager, deleting every keyboard device and driver, then restarting Windows and installing fresh drivers. This could be simpler than a complete OS reinstall.

It was recommended to me but I couldn't locate any drivers for my keyboaRD. It is a Microsoft keyboard 4000. My computer lists it as the keyboard in settings. Any suggestions on where to search for it?

This should be the information required to set up all keys.

The problem with the keyboard began in April, and I kept pressing the Alt, Shift & # lock key, but it didn't always work. Eventually, I relied on the top set of # keys more often. Recently, the num pad functioned properly again, probably after resting enough. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
