I was writing normally when I attempted to type today's date. A few windows appeared (refer to picture).
Edge is opening automatically in a "get help" mode, even though I don’t use Edge. If I press 1 in another browser, sometimes it brings up the Help page there, but instead of Edge, it opens a Help window in that browser.
I’m unsure how this key was linked to these actions, and I need to understand how to fix it. The number pad key still types "1" correctly. When I view the virtual keyboard on-screen, it still shows "1". Someone suggested pressing ALT + Win resolves the issue, but that didn’t help for me. After resetting my machine, the problem persists.
Occasionally, pressing the 1 key or repeating it displays some digits on the screen. For example, "z73" was typed recently, and the "73" part seems consistent.
I’m not sure what caused this, but I’m stuck trying to solve it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you working with a laptop or a keyboard? If the latter, please mention the make and model of your peripheral. If the former, please mention the make, model and SKU to your laptop.
One thing you could do is use
KeyboardTester
and see if the 1 key is triggering other keys.

It is a separate keyboard. It is a Decogear Mechanical Cherry Red MX Keyboard DGKMECHY1K.
I tried KeyboardTester. When I first hit 1 it pops up those three windows and nothing shows as entered. If I keep pressing 1 I'm now getting different things each time, but have gotten "1qaz73" a couple times, just variations of 73 and 1 other times.

Interestingly, the problem disappeared on its own. I believe it stemmed from a conflict between Synergy settings and Presentify for Mac. Presentify is an annotation tool for Mac that uses hotkeys to start annotations. Synergy is a cross-platform keyboard/mouse sharing application I use on my Windows 11 PC while working from my Macbook. It might have been just Synergy, as they released a new version today that I installed, but I recently added Presentify as well, making it a potential cause.
