It's really frustrating since I just received it. Could I have sent it back for a warranty claim?

It would likely be largely irrelevant since most GPUs exhibit some coil whine, which isn't a flaw but a characteristic. Based on my observations, it usually diminishes or stabilizes over time, reaching peak levels only on freshly installed cards.
