Hello, I recently switched from AM4 to AM5 and set up a different system besides just the GPU. Everything has functioned smoothly without any problems, but recently my PC has shut down three times within two days while gaming. The machine doesn’t display a blue screen, and it won’t boot unless I power it off completely—trying that doesn’t work, but turning the PSU on and off makes it start up again normally. After unplugging and reattaching the PSU, it finally restarts properly. I’ve run several benchmarks, reconnected the PSU cables, replaced the GPU, and performed memory and CPU stress tests for over an hour. A full power test also passed without issues. The only odd thing is this has only occurred on a game I just bought from Back 4 Blood during a holiday sale. I’ve played Cyberpunk, Marvel Rivals, and other titles for extended periods on this PC, but this problem appears to be specific to that game. My system specs are: CPU 9800X3D, GPU EVGA 3090 (or as noted), MOBO B650m Aorus Elite AX Rev 1.3 latest BIOS, 96GB RAM (2x48 Teamgroup T-Create at 6400MHz), PSU ROG Loki 1200W, case Lian Li Dan A3 matx. Any advice or assistance would be really helpful, especially since I’m concerned this might become a bigger issue with future games and want to verify everything is stable.
it's a 1200w unit, I don't believe it's a GPU, but you might be able to test it. Some game engines handle performance issues when FPS is too high—my whole PC crashes during Ultrakill with no FPS limit, but it runs smoothly at 500 FPS cap. If possible, try setting the FPS to start low and gradually increase.
pc is brand new and I performed a DDU clean and reinstall just in case there was a driver problem, but nothing happened. For the game, I ran a file integrity check and still experienced issues, so I reinstalled everything completely. The game is stored on my main C drive. @cekcons I have set the FPS to match my monitor's refresh rate (144), which allowed higher values but caused significant screen tearing during setup.
Consider using an older driver or a different GPU if available.
