My son just assembled his very first computer with all new components. I’m quite familiar with computers, but this has been 20 years since I built one myself.
When the system started up, it immediately triggered the "new CPU detected" alert, giving me the option to reset the fTPM. I did that, and the PC restarted. Since then, we’ve had no video output at all. The monitor powers on but remains black with the backlight on, and there’s no indication of a signal loss.
- I made sure everything was properly seated. I double-checked the CPU for any bent pins.
- I disconnected all components except the CPU, RAM, and GPU.
- I flashed the BIOS to the latest version, which showed success on the status LED.
- I shorted the CMOS pins.
- I tested with just one RAM stick in both positions.
I haven’t removed the battery yet because it’s located in a difficult position on the ITX board, but I plan to try tonight.

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550i Pro AX
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X
RAM: Corsair 2 x 32GB
GPU: ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
Any assistance would be extremely helpful, as my son is really disappointed we can’t get it working.

Hello. If you encounter bad luck, the BIOS IC might fail due to a corrupted file (which can be fixed) despite the good configuration. Cheers & good luck!
P.S. It seems the q-flash might have been updated incorrectly, and the motherboard can't handle the IC's VRAM now. Peace

Chassis details
If the PSU was from an older build, mention its age and previous power source.
Q-flashed the BIOS to the latest version; the status LED confirmed success.
To ensure consistency, did you verify your motherboard's PCB version before reflashing the BIOS? This is important because the support page lists several versions (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4).

Regarding the BIOS reflash:
I used Q-flash Plus and tried it with only one RAM stick in both positions.
Do you have a link to the RAM kit you’re using?

Shortened CMOS pins:
Disconnect from power and display, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any remaining charge. After that, short the pins for 30 seconds to reset the CMOS.

Thank you for your message. I recently received the fix, and while it's a bit awkward coming from someone with an IT background, I'm happy to clarify what occurred. The process involved connecting the monitor via HDMI and triggering the PC's POST so quickly that the screen appeared almost instantly. All I needed to do was press the correct button in the BIOS before the display came on. I'm unsure if this behavior is typical—shouldn't there be a boot message or warning?

It relies on the contents of your storage device and the BIOS boot configuration. If BIOS is configured to boot in legacy mode and the storage is partitioned using GPT (for UEFI), then after restarting it may display a black screen with a blinking underscore.

Hello. I'm really happy it worked for you, man. Just added about 3 to 4 seconds in the bios, specifically on the 'post time boot' screen. It should appear there, just like Skynetrise said. The 'uefi' option makes self-test quicker (these ITX boards usually have limited PCI lanes/connections) and they don't need much extra stuff for the hard process, especially during the first boot.
