Hello everyone, today I installed a new CPU and mainboard as a minor upgrade for my PC. The issue is that it gets very hot. System specs: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Ryzen 7 5800X RTX 3070 32GB, 3200MHz DDR4. I’m using the BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 as the cooler, which should help. I’ve already tried reapplying thermal paste (Cooler Master V1) but it didn’t make a difference. When I start R23 Multicore, the package temperature jumps from around 40°C to 90°C in seconds, then settles between 89°C and 90°C. After stopping R23, it drops back to about 40°C within a few seconds. I’m hoping someone can assist me with this problem. Thanks!
You completed one test run to quickly obtain the result. The score was 14847 with a stable 4.5 GHz across all cores. Initially it rose to 4.8 GHz but then dropped back to 4.5. With high priority in Task Manager, the score increased to 15300.
The result is a bit below expectations, aiming for around the mid-15000s. Cinebench fluctuates and is affected by background processes, so 14800 isn't unreasonable—just minor variations from one run to another. It's more likely due to Windows Update or Chrome running in the background rather than a significant performance drop.
I would still verify the installation, it might not have been distributed uniformly.
I’d get a better cooler, not the quiet Corsair H100i. It’s pretty silent and performs well—my 125W AMD stays between 30-35°C when idle, never exceeding 70°C max. In BIOS, set it to 40% at 40°C and full at 60°C. Share your experience!
