Hey everyone. I just got a new part for my PC but it won’t boot. After installing the component, the motherboard had one RAM slot damaged—causing random blue screens or freeze when trying to add more RAM. Today I received a new motherboard. All other parts like the CPU, GPU, and power supply are fine. The PC isn’t starting up at all, even with BIOS enabled. The fans on the cooler and GPU are working properly. When I try to boot with one RAM slot open, it stays frozen for about 10 seconds without power. Everything else seems normal. I’ve had this issue before with an older motherboard that had only one RAM slot; it worked perfectly then. The parts I have are a Patriot 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 Viper Steel MSI MAG 550W 80 Plus Bronze Endorfy Fortis 5 Dual Fan 140x120mm ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0, running an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and Nvidia 1650. If you can tell me what happened, I’d really appreciate it. Also, no speaker sounds for errors with the motherboard and any LEDs or diodes are not showing issues.

Hi, the A B450 supports Ryzen 1000 and 2000 natively. It works with Ryzen 3000 and 5000, but only if the BIOS is up to date. Usually, motherboards are updated when new ones hit the market. However, if the board is old enough and has been sitting on shelves for a while, it might still run an outdated BIOS that doesn’t match the Ryzen 3000. That’s quite a coincidence, but possible. You could try using an older Ryzen CPU or APU to verify.
