Hello everyone, I noticed something unusual when testing my new motherboard outside the case—it worked fine. However, once I placed it back into my old case, it wouldn’t power on at all. My old motherboard seems to function normally without any problems. Could there be an issue with the grounding in my case? Since it’s a Lenovo ThinkCenter case made of metal, I’m curious if that plays a role.

Are the mounting points positioned accurately? Are you selecting exclusively the required standoffs for the updated motherboard, without any extras? Is the power switch installed properly?

The stand you're referring to is in the right place, though there seems to be some confusion about the screw type. I noticed two similar images attached, or maybe it's directly screwed onto the case. The older Lenovo motherboard functions, but why would a newer one not? Hmm.

While operating it outside the case, do you turn it on using the case switch or a screwdriver on the pins? It might be that the front panel connection isn't standard for the Lenovo model.

You're experiencing an issue where the second I/O switch remains connected to the same case, possibly due to improper grounding or contact points. It might be related to a soldered connection between the switch and the enclosure.

This seems like my best assumption. That's why I inquired about the standoffs. Make sure you inspect everything closely regarding contact. If you aim to remove items, place a layer of heavy paper at the bottom of the case—such as kraft paper. You'll need to create openings where screws are inserted, but this should help separate the board.

Do you want to begin with every component (HDD, SSD, fans, etc.) or are you aiming for a minimal initial configuration?
