I recently switched to fiber and the new modem only provides one functional Ethernet port. Previously, I had two routers connected—one for my main network and another for my gaming PC. Now, when I connect the working port on the new modem to the old one, the router refuses to assign an IP address. I need two separate networks or routers but only have one port available. How can I set up two distinct networks using just this single port?

Obtain a hardware switch to place between the routers and the modem.

Yes, you can use your Cisco gigabit router as a switch.
