Brand and model details for the CPU, motherboard, and RAM kits are not provided. Additionally, there is no confirmation whether the motherboard BIOS was reset or updated.

Not sure of model motherboard. It’s an HP omen prebuilt from Best Buy. Ryzen 7 7700. Non updated Bios but again, prebuilt doubt you can really even update BIOS on these things. Picture of model numbers on ram included

You can verify your RAM timings and performance using CPU-z. Unless there are significant issues, running two different brands should work without major problems. It's possible the older RAM is adjusting to match the new one's speed, which might let you use all four sticks. You might need to set manual timings for the new RAM before it boots, but since you can't access BIOS settings, that could be an issue. Good luck!

The phrase refers to performance limits based on the slowest component. It suggests keeping RAM speeds in line with your fastest device for optimal results. You can disable the feature to achieve higher speeds, but ensure your hardware matches the requirements. RAM slots are typically 1, 3, and 2, while 4 is usually reserved for expansion. Mixing configurations isn't recommended. Older systems may need a BIOS update to support faster RAM, though DDR5 should handle it. If you've mixed memory types, it might default to slower speeds, which explains why both configurations work. Check your motherboard's specifications before proceeding.

I’d prefer to use only the new kit if possible because the old one caused crashes. For instance, when all four were installed, the system booted into a CK3 save from a split country, ran at 5x speed, and then the PC blue-screened right away. Playing Cyberpunk has been smoother. I’ll check for BIOS updates; it might be tough since pre-builds are tricky to manage.
