The new computer won't start.
Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out for some guidance regarding my new PC setup. Here are the details: CPU – Ryzen 5 5500, RAM – 8GB, Samsung 1x8Gb, 3200Mhz, Motherboard – MSI B450M PRO-VHD MAX, GPU – MSI RX 580 8Gb, Storage – 128GB Crucial SATA, 2x1TB Seagate 7200RPM PSU, Power Supply – 750W Gold.
My problem started when I first assembled the system. It didn’t boot, despite expecting it to run on 5th generation hardware. The EZ DEBUG LED showed progress through CPU, RAM, and VGA, but it got stuck during booting. I had my friends bring in a 2700 and updated the BIOS to version 7A38vMH. After that, I reinstalled the 5500 and it still didn’t work. Then I went back to BIOS version 7A38vBE and the BETA version 7A38vBE1, but the issue persisted.
I removed all non-essential components to test if it would boot at all, including USB ports, WiFi adapter, and SATA cables. I also reset the CMOS. Even after those changes, it still refused to start and displayed a black screen. I tried different monitors and TVs using various HDMI ports, but nothing helped.
I then swapped the graphics card to the 1660 Super and changed the RAM slots, yet it still wouldn’t boot properly. I’ve even tried another BIOS for my friends’ ASRock B450 and it worked perfectly. This led me to suspect the CPU might be faulty.
I’ve checked my other friends’ BIOS and updated mine, but it still didn’t boot. I’m at a loss for solutions and would really appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have. Thank you in advance for your help!
