Hey there, I just assembled my first PC today but haven’t seen any video output. Here’s what I have:

Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi Bequit Pure Power 12 1000 W G.SKILL Flare X5 6000 MHz CL30 2x16 GB Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB. No GPU yet, as it will arrive next week. All components are new. I bought the CPU tray, so I’m not 100% sure it’s brand new.

I tested everything outside the case first for safety. Everything functioned properly, I installed Windows and entered BIOS without changing any settings. I rebooted several times without issues.

Then I put everything inside the case, but video still didn’t appear. The MB debug LEDs turned off after a few seconds. Fans were spinning, and USB ports lit up (keyboard turned on). The CPU cooler was heating noticeably—definitely not normal, but definitely something was happening inside.

No video signal, no MSI logo, no BIOS changes so far. I’ve tried:

- Reseating RAM and testing each stick separately
- Reinstalling CPU and removing CMOS battery after each step
- Flash new BIOS versions
- Checking ATX connector voltage (12.32V on pin 14 vs expected 12V)
- Testing HDMI cables and screens

Some things seem off, especially the ATX connector voltage. I only have HDMI cables available right now, so I haven’t checked the display connection.

If you have any tips or think I missed something, please let me know. I’m a beginner, so even small details help!

Remove the motherboard from the case and test it on the bench as usual. While it's removed, make sure there are no standoffs in areas without screw holes. Additional standoffs touching the bottom may lead to shorts.

I was surprised but had already removed it from the case. Once I noticed it wouldn't boot, the motherboard was placed back on its box to eliminate any short circuits.
