Hey there, newcomers. I haven’t posted much lately, but I’m in the zone now. Recently I upgraded my PC with these specs: > Asrock Z790 PG Lightning > Intel I5-12600K (secondhand from a friend, no issues at all) > 32GB Kingston Fury Beast RGB 6000Mhz DDR5 (operating at 4800Mhz instead of XMP) > Asrock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming 24GB OC > Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD > Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 (tubes lowered and radiator positioned higher than the pump) > Corsair RM1000e power supply > A few older HDDs and SDDs for storage, not in use My system tends to freeze and crash frequently while gaming. It usually happens after about 5 to 30 minutes of play. It froze during sessions with Dragon Age Inquisition, Baldur’s Gate 3, and BeamNG.drive. No error messages appear normally. Once after a Windows reinstall, I got a runtime error R6025, but it never returned. I play in 4K with HDR enabled. Previously, my setup ran smoothly on a GTX 1070 at 1080p. I’ve tried uninstalling drivers in safe mode with DDU and reinstalling the latest version (21.12.1). All drives were formatted and a fresh Windows 11 Pro install was done (64-bit). BIOS updated as well. Nothing seems to resolve the issue. Interestingly, my old system with a GTX 1070 also handled 1080p without issues. I’ve also run the Heaven Benchmark at native resolution for two hours straight—card temps stayed under 81°C. In Cinebench, CPU temperatures never exceeded 72°C across ten runs. The PC only froze once during background tasks. Windows Memory Diagnostic showed no faults in RAM. A friend’s RX 7900 XTX worked perfectly, but when I swapped it back in, the problems returned instantly. Since then I’ve sent it back and switched to an older RX 460 (1080p) that ran smoothly for years. The game crashed again there. Now I’m considering a budget RTX 4080 instead of sticking with the 7900, but I’m also keen to try Team Red. If this works, the 7900 XTX offers better value. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m eager to experience 4K gaming and see how it compares, as this is my first capable 4K machine. Thanks a lot!
