Hey everyone, just wanted to share that this was the first AMD build in a long time. I'm really thrilled to have received my new 5800X. From Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme, I noticed the CPU runs at its base clock of 3.8GHz. I used a friend's 3800X to update my BIOS, and during testing with that CPU, the turbo boost was active in 3D Mark, achieving scores similar to or better than my non-boosted 5800X. The only change I made in the updated BIOS was enabling DOCP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Examine the Windows power configurations. There’s a CPU power option inside the settings where you can define a low and high power threshold. The minimum should be at least 5% and the maximum at most 100%. I’ve noticed this issue often prevents Ryzen CPUs from boosting, particularly the second generation ones. It seems similar for the fifth generation as well. It probably looks like this (my device is naturally in German).
Hey, thanks for your reply! Yea, I made sure the power settings were on high performance. There is an AMD high performance and a regular... I guess I’ll stick with AMD. Either way, they don’t seem to enable power boost in 3D mark. However, i can see in Windows task manager that the processor is certainly going above 4 GHz so I wonder if it’s just a bug within 3d mark. My score seems to be comparable with guru3d’s benchmark score.
I'm experiencing the same problem. My new 5800x shows a lower CPU score compared to my older 3900x, even though both run at full performance. The benchmark reports a clock speed of 3799MHz for the 5800x, while the 3900x has more cores available.
It likely relates to the BIOS updates—something about the latest version isn’t being recognized or processed correctly. My initial benchmark results with this CPU stayed nearly the same after enabling the PBO curve optimizer, which suggests a performance issue. Meanwhile, others on forums are reporting similar motherboard setups achieving much higher scores, possibly due to different configurations or settings.
