The NCSI indicator isn't functioning properly?
Hey there,
I came across an issue when I first assembled my PC about five months ago, but couldn’t locate a solution.
In Windows 11 (version 23H2, OS build 22631.3737), NCSI shows that I’m not connected to the internet.
In the Network & Internet settings it says “Not connected,” “No internet, secured.” This problem has persisted on both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.
It seems this is blocking access to several features and apps on my PC, such as Windows updates, Microsoft Store, Spotify, Reddit, Epic Games Store, etc., which all warn me about being offline or prompting me to retry later.
I’ve tried numerous fixes from the internet, including:
- Resetting router, modem, and PC
- Disabling IPv6
- Running netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset reset.log, ipconfig /release /renew in command prompt
- Installing the latest Wi-Fi driver and testing older versions (I’m using a Aorus Elite Ax Rev 1.2)
- Ensuring Network Location Awareness, DNS client, and DHCP client are active
- Performing a network reset
- Completely reinstalling Windows 11
This is my first PC build, and I really hope it works smoothly. Any advice or tips would be incredibly helpful. Thanks all!
Yes, you can be in a double NAT setup. Run ipconfig.exe /all in a cmd window to check the details.
Hi guys, thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delay.
Here's what I got. I'm not an IT expert and I like to be cautious so I redacted some information, hope that's fine.
The model of my modem is Arris SURFboard SB 8200v2. There's a couple routers in my home but the one I'm connected to is an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I've tried other routers and the problem persists, though.
It seems unrelated to the hardware. You might want to check the links provided: https://support.heimdalsecurity.com...crosoft-applications-Outlook-Teams-and-others and https://docs.controld.com/docs/microsoft...ty-warning. Also, consider manually updating your DNS to Google's DNS 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 on your router or PC.
Image looks OK now. and DNS setting looks good too.
No need to mask physical mac addresses for your NICs since no one can reach them.
What did you get when you paste "
http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt
" into browser's address bar?
or using command line
Code:
curl http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt
Did you get "Microsoft Connect Test" ?
