Hey guys,
just upgraded my system with a 4790k and a corsair H115i. I'm running it on an msi Z97 Gaming 5. Now I wanted to change the BIOS settings to 4,4Ghz at 1.2V. After rebooting, CPU-z still shows 4,4Ghz, but during stress tests it returns to normal speed. What's going on? Need some advice! Thanks!

It would help a lot if you could walk through the process in detail, showing each step and the settings changed. Also, let me know if this CPU has ever been overclocked before and whether this is the first time you're encountering this issue.

It would be helpful to know the detailed steps you followed to overclock and which settings were adjusted. Also, was this CPU ever overclocked before? Was this the first time you encountered this issue? The processor is brand new, purchased today, so no previous overclocking. I only changed the clockspeed to 4,4Ghz at "Fixed" in BIOS, set the core voltage to 1.2 and saved with F10. That’s all I’ve done so far. I also used "OC Genie" to check if core speed remained stable at 4,4Ghz, but it returned to normal speed again. Temperatures stayed below 30°C during idle, reaching around 60°C under full load.
