Since the Zen era, I've really enjoyed working with PCs. Back then, connecting the CPU power from the PSU to the motherboard required an 8-pin connector. I'm planning an upgrade and Micro Center offers a good package featuring a Ryzen 7 7700X, the motherboard mentioned, and 32GB of RAM. My boyfriend would be happy to pick it up for me since he's moving in soon. I noticed the motherboard includes two 8-pin CPU connectors. Most PSUs I've used over the years only had one. Should I upgrade my PSU or connect both? Some say both are needed, others think it's unnecessary. Any advice would be helpful!
Only connect one of the 1x8 pins for the 7700x and even 7950x. The extra 8-pin is for display or extreme overclocking. The CPU 1x8 pin supports up to 336 watts. I use just the 1x8 pin with my 7700x and did the same with my [email protected]. Just one pin is enough.
Great! It seems your current PSU is sufficient for now, so no immediate upgrade is necessary.
