Hi, I recently installed a new PC and noticed my SSD wasn't detected by the BIOS during startup, preventing Windows from booting. I checked all four SATA slots on the motherboard without success. I also used a Gen 3 PCIe M.2 drive that worked perfectly on my laptop, but it left my laptop without the SSD (only 500GB). After turning on the system, I updated the BIOS right away. Since the other SSD functioned normally, it made me wonder if the SATA M.2 drive was safeguarding its data somehow? Here are the specs: motherboard MSI MAG X670E, Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, Crucial MX500 1TB SSD, SATA M.2 RAM Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 CL30.

Your system doesn't accept m.2 SATA interfaces, only NVMe options are available.

I believed every PCIe port was just a SATA port because of backward compatibility. I didn’t realize SATA isn’t connected to PCIe. Probably getting a new hard drive.
