I have a B350 Tomahawk with a Ryzen 7 1700x and 2x8 3200 DDR4 RAM. I recently purchased this motherboard for a low cost and wanted to explore its performance. However, when I accessed the BIOS, I noticed I could only overclock the RAM, not the CPU as shown in the picture (I also found a Discord link because I’m too lazy to upload an image). Any advice on what to do?

I own a B350 Tomahawk and a Ryzen 7 1700x, plus two 8-pin 3200 DDR4 RAM modules. I recently purchased a new motherboard at a low price and decided to try its performance. However, when I opened the BIOS, I noticed I could only overclock my RAM, not my CPU as shown in the screenshot (yes, I also got a Discord link because I’m too lazy to upload an image). Here’s the picture:

Any advice on how to proceed?
EDIT: In the photo I took, it seems the RAM was set to 3200 but reported as clocked at 2400. This happened because I didn’t reboot after making those changes.
Suggest updating the BIOS to version 1H for a Gen 1 processor. It’s interesting that version 1B isn’t accessible online...

Suggest updating the BIOS to version 1H for a Gen 1 processor.
It’s telling that version 1B isn’t even listed on the webpage, hinting that something might be misleading about it being available.

Thanks! I’m not very experienced with BIOS settings, so I assumed it was already updated.

I think updating the BIOS to version 1H for a Gen 1 processor would be a good idea. It’s worth noting that version 1B isn’t listed on the website, which might indicate some misleading information was involved. Thanks! Since I’m not very experienced with BIOS settings, I assumed it was pre-updated.

It seems like a reasonable guess that version 1B is the first BIOS released for Ryzen 2000 support, which is essential for booting that CPU. However, I recall the early versions had issues with the AGESA package, so this could explain why your system is behaving unpredictably and why it was removed.

So yes, it was pre-updated. Later releases have fixed many of those problems. I recommend going with 1H, as you have a 1700X processor and the AGESA seems to offer better support for first-generation chips.
