She might have encountered a hardware fault or a software glitch that wasn’t caught during setup. The sudden shutdown after turning it on could stem from overheating, faulty components, or corrupted system files. Since the motherboard and RAM are still functional, the issue likely lies in power delivery, cooling, or a failing component.

Consider turning off all devices and pressing the reset button. It might help you walk her through recharging the CMOS battery, which shouldn’t be too complicated.

I powered down everything and the system wouldn't start, the MB displayed a RAM warning. I removed all RAM, inserted one stick, and the warning persisted. After resetting CMOS, the issue disappeared. Once I replaced the faulty stick with two 8GB modules, it worked perfectly. Now instead of four 8GB sticks, it uses two 8GB sticks, which is functional for her while I arrange to bring more RAM home.
