Hi,
I just got an MSI 950GTX second hand, still unused, for $100. I intended to use it on my wife’s small gaming rig. After some overclocking, everything ran smoothly at around 30-60 FPS. The overclock settings were set to 105% power, 85°C target temp, +50MHz core clock, and +300MHz memory clock. Under load, the temperature stayed between 60-75°C, averaging 65°C in a room that’s warm. I didn’t see any artifacts and saw a slight boost—over 10% more FPS in tests like Shadow of Mordor and Heaven Unigine. Now I’m satisfied with the performance but concerned about the card’s long-term health.
Hello!
It depends on how long and frequently you use the system for gaming.
Usually, the more you use something, the faster it needs to work, which can shorten its lifespan.
However, with an OC in place—especially if the card cools well—it shouldn't notice much difference from normal life, so you can expect around three years.
Hope this clears things up!
I wouldn't be concerned, as by the time it reaches any real effect it will be outdated. Applying a greater voltage could raise some issues.
