I collected more than 500gb of gaming videos in mp4 format, each about 1 minute and 30 seconds long. They vanished unexpectedly. I looked them up in File Explorer under their original drive, but they showed up as low-quality JPGs in a hidden folder named thumbcache—something that wasn’t visible during the search. Anyone know how to restore them to their original form? And what exactly is thumbcache?
These are the initial screenshots of your video files in Windows Explorer. The "thumbcache" folder stores these small previews. You can't shrink a 26 KB thumbnail into a large video file because it lacks the necessary data.
