I received a wireless cherry mouse around three years ago for my birthday, and it has worked well until about six months ago. The cursor keeps moving erratically at random times while running any program or game. It’s the most bothersome during FPS games like BattleBit—sometimes I end up pointing in the opposite direction or straight down when aiming a shot. This also happens when browsing the web, with the cursor appearing randomly at the screen corners whenever I click. I’ve updated the Windows and graphics drivers, tried using the built-in OS mouse and native settings, but nothing seems to help. The issue doesn’t follow a pattern—sometimes it lasts days, other times it happens multiple times an hour. Have I become unstable, or is this related to RF interference or something else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I also tried touching grass
Have you checked the sensor? Dust or even a single hair can lead to unusual performance. The same applies to debris on your desk or mouse pad.
The desk mat is cleaned consistently, yet I recommend verifying the sensor and noting any issues. Appreciate your feedback.
Same here, especially if you have pets at home. I’d follow the advice given earlier and even if you haven’t had any issues before: If the laser on the mouse starts to weaken, it may not be detecting the surface as effectively as it used to—just like a game console or BR player’s laser does over time. The type of surface influences how well it “sees” its surroundings, and the color also plays a role. You can clean it and see if there’s a better surface or mouse pad that works better, or just use it as is.
I think I might have made a small mistake with the setup. The coiled hair was probably blocking something, but it looks like fixing that simple fix should work. I’m hoping it resolves itself soon. Appreciate everyone’s feedback!
