the mouse drivers are listed as "mice and other pointing devices" in the device manager, correct? i haven't needed to delete or reinstall them before, just wanted to double-check.

Mouse might be relying on Microsoft's standard drivers.
= = = =
Opt for the drivers from Logitech. Otherwise, certain mouse operations and capabilities may be missing or behave differently.
Note: https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/innovation/g-hub.html
Search using your mouse model, version, etc., and ensure you're on Windows 11.
Get the mouse drivers following Logitech's guidelines.

Even the smallest amount of lint or dust near the optical sensor can cause this issue. A gentle breeze can shift tiny particles like lint, and when they come close to the sensor, the effect becomes more noticeable. Other factors might be involved, but inspect the area carefully by cleaning it near the sensor and temporarily placing it on a different surface to check for any interference.

removed all devices listed under "mice and other pointing devices", restarted the system and used the "Firmware Update Tool" on the mouse's support page downloads from the logitech website, which showed nothing except the mouse still malfunctioning. Also tried g hub but it indicated the firmware was up to date.

Check Reliability History/Monitor for any error codes, alerts, or data events near the times the mouse stopped functioning. Use the built-in Windows troubleshooters; they might identify and resolve the issue. Execute "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to detect and repair corrupted or faulty Windows files.
Do other mice operate properly?
Is the mouse functioning correctly on another known working computer?
Identify whether the issue is specific to the mouse or persists on the host system.

nothing in Reliability History/Monitor or event viewer indicated issues, troubleshooters failed, "dism" and "sfc /scannow" returned no results. Other mice function properly. The mouse operates correctly on my Windows 11 home laptop.

Other problems that the laptop handles well while the host PC struggles. Review the mouse settings on the host PC. A slight adjustment in sensitivity might help. Look at the differences between the PC and laptop mouse configurations.
