I recently assembled a new PC with these specifications:
MSI Z790 TOMAHAWK DDR4
Intel i5-13600KF
GTX 4070ti
32GB DDR4 RAM
Windows 10 Pro
Corsair M55 RGB Pro Mouse
HyperX Cloud II Headset
All components function properly, but my microphone and mouse cursor intermittently fail. The devices remain connected and powered, yet I can't control the mouse or hear sound from the mic. The issue occurs sporadically, not consistently. Temporarily plugging them into different USB ports helped, or adjusting microphone settings in Windows Settings resolved it. I've updated the BIOS and confirmed all MoBo drivers are current. Peripherals don’t require separate drivers. This problem is particularly bothersome during VR sessions. What steps can I take to resolve it?
You forgot to include the make and model of your PSU. If the PSU has been in service for a while, please include the age of the unit. For the sake of relevance, can you state the BIOS version at this moment of time? Did you install all relevant drivers for your new build, manually with the latest drivers, in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?
Windows and motherboards tend to be cautious about conserving energy. Check the power options for windows to determine if you can configure USB devices to stay on even when not in use for a certain period. In the BIOS, search for adjustments that reduce the aggressiveness of device shutdowns.
The gadgets aren't truly turned off since they remain active (still running). They simply stop working completely...
Occasionally it occurs every few minutes, sometimes it doesn't. It seems more frequent when I'm playing a video game (higher system load). Also, the customizable light on the mouse doesn't change via Corsair software. After reinstalling the drivers and software, the issue remains. Any advice would be appreciated. It's still quite strange that my headset mic cuts out randomly while the audio part works fine.
