Hi, I'm using an Asus PRIME H310I-PLUS R2.0 with an i5 9400t, 16GB RAM, Corsair SF450. I tried connecting a GTX 1080 from my PC to this setup, but it doesn't show up. I updated the BIOS and reinstalled Windows, along with the chipset drivers, but it still won't detect the GPU. When I used a Quadro K620, it worked fine. Any advice would be appreciated.

You switched from a low-power card to one that draws more at the higher end. The increase in power isn’t always the issue. Have you connected the additional power supply to the 1080? Do you have a method to check the PSU’s wattage, like a UPS display or a Kill-a-Watt? Which connections on the 1080 have you tested?

checked every port on the PSU, used various cables. the GPU fan is running and the screen is lit. tried DisplayPort and HDMI connections. will use another PSU tomorrow. the SF450 worked well in other configurations.

I wasn't checking the quality of your PSU. I was verifying if there was sufficient total wattage for the setup with that GPU. Additionally, I wanted to confirm whether you linked the PCI-E power cables to the 1080 port (usually one 6-pin and one 8-pin connection).

It only has one 8-pin connector and it's compatible. There should be enough power, the CPU is around 40 watts.

Your PSU might not provide enough power for all components anymore. I used the EVGAs power meter to estimate the PSU capacity and made some assumptions since certain parts were missing. The result I got was around 410W, so anything at 450W or higher should work. You can test it yourself if you like. EVGA - Power Meter. The GPU might also not be fitting correctly due to an obstruction.

I used the EVGA power meter since some parts weren’t on the original list. The setup includes one GPU—a GeForce GTX 1080—along with an Intel Z390/Z370/H370/B360 processor, and both an SSD and a non-overclocked HDD. The results show the i5 9000 series, i5 9400F, and the power consumption was around 413 watts. Suggested PSUs range from 450 to 550 watts.

Sure, I'll give the other PSU a chance early in the morning.

This would be the optimal and affordable method to gather information right now, and I hope it covers everything. And remember, before I forget. EVGA is streaming live on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays via their Twitch channel, allowing you to interact directly with them. TEAMEVGA - Twitch
