I recently installed my PC a few days ago and everything worked fine except for the RAM. Setting the XMP parameters makes the frequency jump to 3600MHz, which matches the advertised rate. After saving the changes, the system powers on and off several times, leaving a black screen. Restarting the PC resets it back to 2133MHz. I’m certain my motherboard can handle up to 4400MHz, but I’m unsure how to adjust it. The maximum speed it normally supports is around 3200MHz. My build includes an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, a Nvidia RTX 2070, and other components. Any advice would be invaluable.

Your motherboard only addresses part of the issue. While your memory supports 3600MHz and the board can handle higher speeds, it doesn’t guarantee automatic compatibility with your memory ICs. The 3700X’s memory controller operates at 3200MHz, but this isn’t assured because board manufacturers adjust timing parameters and IC tolerances vary. Because you’re exceeding AMD’s memory controller specs, manual adjustments are likely necessary. You might consider using 1usmus’s DRAM calculator (though I’m not overly confident in its accuracy) or tweak timings yourself until you find a stable setting. The memory OC guide I provided is tailored for Intel systems, but the core concepts apply broadly to testing and refining your setup. Ultimately, you can experiment by setting your 3600MHz timings with the 3200MHz frequency and see how it performs. My RAM sticks are in slots 2 and 4, with slot 1 being nearest to the CPU. I'm using the most recent BIOS update.
