You recently upgraded your PC for a Minecraft server and faced sudden shutdowns after turning it on. The system appears to have power issues despite the motherboard and PSU seeming functional. There’s no GPU, but the power indicator lights up while the button remains unresponsive. You’ve tried connecting it to an existing Windows HDD and reinstalling, but the process fails entirely. The thermal paste hasn’t been changed, and you’re unsure if the processor model is confirmed. The case change didn’t help either. Given these signs, it’s likely a hardware fault or improper connection. If you suspect irreversible damage, consider testing with another PC or seeking professional diagnostics to confirm the issue.

Consider reinstalling the RAM, as it might have come out misplaced. If that doesn't work, test the system using just a single RAM module to see if the issue persists

Verify the clear CMOS jumper isn't engaged. If not, remove the board completely, strip off all heatsinks, extract the CMOS battery, disconnect the power button, and fully discharge the board by shorting it for about two minutes each. Submerge it in water or a dishwasher without detergent; if preferred, lightly mist the board first to ensure thorough cleaning. This process thoroughly cleans any dirt or shorts that could cause malfunctions. Expect a drying period of around two days, depending on the climate—here in India’s hot weather it dries in just one day. It’s safe to say this method works reliably; I’ve used it many times and the board remains functional unless it’s already dead or has issues like frequent restarts or unresponsive buttons. This particular H61 model I own has been dunked four times and is still working, though it still experiences random shutdowns.

This was the most unusual suggestion I’ve come across. I’d never attempted anything like it before, having tried over thirty alternatives. I’m not claiming it has no value, but I think it could backfire more than help if someone isn’t experienced.

This doesn't necessarily indicate a delay once you changed components. You also note the device appears old and worn (no other Russian/Ukrainian info available), so I recommend testing it again with the original board to check for failure after swapping parts. If unsure, the paperclip test might be risky with non-branded PSUs—consider consulting someone familiar before proceeding.

I have a few boards as living proof though most of em have been sold and though theres a china h61, jetway g41, and foxconn g41mx that remains Heres said g41mx though water didnt fix its issue, it just really wants to cling to this one e8600 for some reason, but oh well its clean now since before dunking it was pretty dirty. Bios flashed to t41-a7 to run 360fsb cause stock bios sucks Ill take a pic of the h61 board later which has been dunked like 4 times now

It wouldn’t be obvious if something went wrong, since there’s no odor or spark, and it simply shut down.

I attempted this several times, but I believe the board should still power on and display an error even without RAM, which would be disappointing for the manufacturer. Also, since the RAM is brand new, it would be frustrating if it seemed to have issues right away.

The power source functions properly alongside the prior motherboard. It continues to operate without issues.
