I’m not a fan of r/microsoftsoftwareswap or similar sites, and I prefer not to send money to strangers via PayPal. Upgrading to version 8.1 is possible, but finding it can be tricky since G2A is currently out of stock. You might want to check official Microsoft channels or trusted retailers for the latest release.

I have no idea where you're from or how old you are, but in my country (Netherlands) you can often find it at a low cost for students, so you might want to explore that option. You could also consider purchasing an OEM version elsewhere.

Upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 is complimentary if you have Windows 8 installed. Install all available updates for Windows 8, then access the Windows Store and you’ll find Windows 8.1 available.
