Hey everyone, today I made some changes to my PC. The previous setup had these details: Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z97 Intel Z97 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4x 4.00GHz So.1150 BOX RAM: 2x 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit Cooler: EKL Alpenföhn Brocken ECO GPU: 4096MB Asus GeForce GTX 970 STRIX OC Edition PSU: 760 Watt Corsair AX Series Modular 80+ Platinum. I switched to the following configuration: Motherboard: MSI Z490-A Pro, So.1200, ATX CPU: Intel Core i5 10600K 6x 4.10GHz So.1200 WOF RAM: 2x 16GB (2x 8192MB) G.Skill RipJaws V rot DDR4-3600 DIMM CL19-20-20-40 Dual Kit Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 Tower GPU: 4096MB Asus GeForce GTX 970 STRIX OC Edition (5 years old) PSU: 760 Watt Corsair AX Series Modular 80+ Platinum (5 years old).

I mostly replaced the parts except the power supply and graphics card. That morning I verified everything in the previous machine was functioning properly. After installing all components, I powered on the PC and saw the warning "No input/signal" on my screen (Dell S2721DGF, 27", 2560 x 1440).

I tried connecting the GPU via a Display Port cable, the same one used before. Three different cables were tested, none worked. I also attempted HDMI connection to the GPU, but that didn’t help either. I tried plugging the GPU directly into the motherboard using a DP cable, but it only worked briefly before flickering and shutting down.

Eventually, I removed the GPU from the mainboard (removed power connections, etc.), connected a DP cable to the board, and for about five minutes everything displayed briefly before going dark again. Once I switched back to my onboard graphics card via HDMI, it functioned normally.

After updating the BIOS, installing Windows, and applying available drivers, I reinserted the GPU (leaving the connection between my mobile device and monitor untouched). It returned to its original state. No debug lights were blinking, and no error codes appeared when I powered on with the GPU installed.

When I tried turning it on, all fans activated—CPU and case—and the GPU fans stayed off, which is normal since the 970 has an idle mode that only engages under heavy load.

Some troubleshooting steps I tried:
- Swapped all cables (DP/HDMI)
- Checked every HDMI/DP port
- Inspected every PCIe slot
- Tested all possible combinations

Despite these efforts, whenever the GPU is physically connected, the screen remains black with no signal. Once removed and using my built-in graphics card over HDMI, everything works perfectly.

I’ve reset the system completely and ensured all other parts—including the monitor—are within three weeks of use.
