This raises questions about Microsoft's approach to rolling out updates in phases. It seems they're using a strategy that creates the impression of scarcity to encourage quicker adoption. Is this genuinely about limited availability or simply a marketing tactic? The idea of being turned away from reservations highlights how competitive the process can become.

You get a year to improve after booking, according to what I know.

1) This is in the wrong section 2) They have never stated or implied it is "limited supply" 3) It is releasing in waves because having a few million people all trying to download a ~3.5 GB file from your servers at the exact same time is never a good idea 4) The reservation is more about gauging how many people will be downloading on day one 5) You don't even need to reserve to get the upgrade 6) There's really no need to download on day one anyway, you have a full year to upgrade for free

Hmm, it seems you're questioning their understanding of current events or potential fraud.

You're right, the "wave" method helps identify any broad issues early so they can be resolved before Wave 2 is released.

Was not sure if it was the right section I know its free and you have a year to upgrade. You guys don't seem to get it. Its not a scam in that they are trying to seperate you from your money but a psychological marketing trick to make ppl think that it will be somehow limited on when you can get it. This get ppl to sign up for it now and accept the terms so it will install or attempt to install it as soon as it can complete the download to your machine. You can see they hooked Luke and Linus with it shows them in the show worrying if they have it resevered on all their machines. You are now going to say well they are a tech reveiw site and have to have it so they can reveiw it. This is true and not the point. You can review and test it with out putting it on every machine you own and is actually a smarter way to do it because you don't need to open up every machine you have to all the bugs and security flaws that come with it to try it out and see if it is an improvement. Search windows 10 reservation and you can find plenty of comments where ppl are fretting about getting it reserved. Just mentioning you should have a reserevation puts in a little psychological prod that you should get your now or be out of luck. And its all just a marketing trick to increase its adoptions rate so that the Windows 10 takes off soaring and dosen't end up having a crappy adoption rate like Windows 8. Which a lower percentage of use than even XP. I am saying that anyone that wants it more than likey be able to get it the first day and their use of the reservation is just to make ppl worry about getting it so that they have more installs and increase their adoption of Windows 10.
