I recently changed the bios on my motherboard for the first time since purchasing it because I hadn’t needed a reason until I discovered I could enable the resize bar. Everything functioned as expected, but now each boot triggers the message about a new processor detecting changes to storage firmware. If you didn’t activate this feature, please press Y to proceed; otherwise, follow the guidance below: Press Y to reset the fTPM. If BitLocker or encryption is enabled, the system won’t start without a recovery key. Press N to retain the current fTPM settings and continue booting—this will prevent TPM activation on the new processor. You can revert to the previous configuration to recover related keys and data. I didn’t replace the CPU, so I’m unsure why others seem to have done it or if this is just a result of rebuilding. I’ve been only pressing N but still getting the pop-up. Any advice on stopping it? Thanks for your help.

I would create a copy of the operating system drive (or at least its key files) on another storage device and then press Y. These situations can feel strange, but you should be okay. Updated January 27, 2025 by leclod

It depends on what you need. Keeping only the boot drive ensures your system starts correctly, while removing everything else may cause issues if you rely on other partitions. Check your requirements before deciding.
