I assembled a new PC featuring an ASUS rog strix B550-F gaming motherboard. I purchased two sets of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8 GB at 3600mHz. Running all four RAM sticks at 2133mHz works smoothly, but attempting DOCP or manual overclocking to reach 3600mHz causes the system to fail and prevent booting. I can only install one or two sticks from the same kit in the A2 and B2 slots. Using just two sticks from the same kit at full speed still functions well. After researching online, I noticed that even though these kits are from the same brand, they may contain different chips (SK Hynix and Microchip). My concern is whether it’s possible to get them to synchronize at 3600mHz despite this inconsistency, or if I need a different 4x8 GB kit for stable performance.
If those DIMMs are single rank, your processor only officially backs DDR4-2933 with four units (that number drops to DDR4-2667 for dual rank). One pair can reach 3200 MHz. You may exceed that, but it’s not a certainty—test at 2933 first, then 3200.
It's not about that, I'm using a 5700x, 5800x3D, and 3600. The common denominator isn't working for my setup and the other person's build. Their system uses a B550-F gaming motherboard.
In numerous Ryzen 5000 configurations, 3200MHz is the maximum limit. Occasionally, with a solid motherboard and the 5000 chips on the IMC, you might hit 3600MHz—this usually occurs with the top-tier processors.
ASUS' QVL only shows a maximum of 3466 MHz for Corsair kits. It’s unclear if this is the issue you're facing. Generally, Ryzen's memory controller can struggle with four sticks and may get overwhelmed.
It feels a bit similar to the silicon lottery—some people get better performance, others don't. I've noticed folks running 5700x and 5600 with 3600MHz. That's not typical. Still, you can always upgrade the infinity fabric for faster memory speeds.
