Do you know what to do? My Asus G55vw laptop won't boot, no HDD or fan turning on, but the motherboard light stays on. It auto-turns on when I plug in a charger, but it doesn't start with the battery. I've tried removing parts one by one, but the issue persists. When I partially unplug the fan cord, it starts working, but full connection stops it. Anyone can help? Thanks, TT^TT
The issue is... last year I didn't charge the battery at all, just used the charger for power, and then it happened.
Unfortunately, with laptops, isolating individual parts is quite challenging without a dedicated "donor" or "healer" machine. I’d begin by checking your drive to see if it boots on another computer, which would indicate the data is intact. Then, try connecting the laptop to an external monitor without battery or power supply for the laptop itself, and attempt to start it. Look for any signs of activity from the system. If possible, remove one stick of RAM if it has two, or swap it with a different one. This process will likely involve trial and error, since most laptop components are tightly integrated into a single board.

The video seemed unusual, and I’m about to reach a conclusion based on that. It looks like there might be a connection with the fans or the main board sending extra data now that it’s clear the fans aren’t necessary, possibly sending an off signal. One thing works, another doesn’t. Regarding the lights, I should check for any diagnostic codes. Does pressing the numlock button have any effect?
right, so sometimes a set of lights being illuminated without the screen being on is a diagnostic code. Dell in particular is famous for this, don't know if asus does it though. just a cursorary google search shows that there is hope though G55vw Won't boot (no matter what!) - Republic of Gamers Forum - 376962 (asus.com) G55vw Wont boot/reboot. - Republic of Gamers Forum - 404089 (asus.com) My recommendation, Pull the battery, pull the power, if there is a cmos battery pull that too, press and hold the power button for a minute (most say 30 seconds, I tend to err on the side of longer). The goal here is to drain any capacitors in the main board that have any residual power left in them. Plug the power back in and see if it comes back to life. From the sounds of it and what i have read, unless the disk is bitlockered, you should be able to at least recover the files. Even if the disk is bitlockered, there is still hope.
