This problem mostly affects Macs that arrived in backpacks or suitcases with other belongings. Newer models from 2019 onward have very delicate screens. The damage often happens just from installing a case, which is unacceptable. I've replaced screens on Macbooks where they still failed shortly after installation because they were kept in the same bag or case. Since accidental damage isn't covered, customers are left with repair costs or switching devices. The last repair I handled cost $900 and broke within four months, and they were upset about the lack of warranty protection.
But ignoring tips about protecting it feels reckless, especially when you're upset afterward. For me, carrying it in a backpack with other items makes sense—no need for an old MacBook. I’ll probably go with one of the Dell XPS models. Are they reliable?
XPS options are appealing, though they can be on the pricier side. Their build quality is strong. We don’t often encounter any physical issues in my workshop. For enhanced durability, most are made from carbon fiber, full metal, or a combination of both.
It seems he owned an XPS 15 or 16. I appreciated the specs—Intel i9 13900H, 4070 RTX 32GB DDR5 SSD—but also the carbon fiber interior and metal exterior. The carbon fiber stayed cooler than the metal in other laptops I've used, which is great since I tend to have sweaty hands.
