It looks like Apple seems to have overlooked the M2 Ultra Mac Pro, possibly not updating its lineup. Despite that, M2 Mac Pros remain available in new condition since they’re the last models using the M2 chip.

Reviewing the evolution of the Mac Pro reveals this trend is typical. The 2013 model sold in 2019 featured outdated specifications for its era. Public statements from Apple likely stem from limited sales, making upgrades financially unviable.

The situation unfolded as no one acquired it due to its exorbitant cost.

apple consistently overlooks the mac pro's presence across each generation. they discarded the trash can model after six years, then replaced it with a cheese grater that lasted four more years before being used for the launch of the M2 ultra version.

It appears they're emphasizing the premium Mac Studio models to replace the former Mac Pro's position in the range.

It appears Apple is clearly offering these PCIe slots for their own devices, not letting others use them. The Mac Studio truly represents a better alternative to the outdated Mac Pro.

Another consideration is the high cost of the MP; upgrading it would only be justified if there was a significant performance improvement. So far, each new AS CPU upgrade has been relatively small.

It was assessed in 2023 with identical results to the Mac Studio, though the Mac Pro was priced $3,000 higher. Also, discuss Apple tax.
