I recently switched from Windows to Mac using an M2 Mac Mini and am trying to add my fonts. I've used both .otf and .ttf files, fonts from Fontshare, Google Fonts, variable and non-variable styles. The error message shows a list of fonts I attempted, including Neutral Face and Variable options. I'm currently on macOS 13.3.1 as of Saturday, April 29, 2023.

I resolved the problem by making a new folder named "Fonts" inside the Library directory and moving your fonts there.
