I recently purchased a new Gen 4 M.2 drive and disassembled my PC just to secure it with only two screws on the heatsink. My MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi is installed fine. I managed to remove the farthest screw without any problems. It seems the GPU, along with the 3080 chip that sits directly above it, might have been stripped during the process. The head also appears slightly damaged because of our attempts to extract the screws. According to the manual, the screws are quite short, and when I try to lift the heatsink, it feels almost loose, yet they won’t move. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Gently lift the heatsink while unscrewing; it should come out easily. Don’t worry if you thought it was missing—just ensure you’re using the right tool. If you only have a few sharp-pointed screws, a flathead screwdriver might work better.

Do you own a soldering iron? I recall MSI or ASUS applying blue loctite to the threads during manufacturing. If someone were to warm up a soldering iron and rest it on a screw briefly, it might make the material easier to work with. I wish I could pinpoint the exact brand that did this.

It seems your only flathead screwdriver isn't the right size for the hole, so you're thinking about switching to a microcenter type. It's frustrating when tools don't fit, and I wonder if prices would be higher for something different. This is really inconvenient since I can't use my new drive because of the screws.
