The M.2 drive isn't showing up in your system?
Chose am5 after years with am4. Purchased an Aorus B650 Elite Ax and a 7600x, beginning a full swap. Installed two M.2 drives: Corsair Mp600 Pro 2TB and a Western Digital Blue 1TB M.2-2280 from the old system. The Corsair drive appears in BIOS but the WD Blue isn’t detected. I’ve tried re-seating, changing slots, cleaning contacts, and updating BIOS—still no fix. As a beginner, it’s possible I missed something obvious, but if not, let me know what to do next.
It doesnt show up in disk management either? I just did some searching and possibly in your BIOS there will be a setting to set your PCI slot to M.2 mode, for M.2 slots that are PCIE. But checking disk management for it and seeing if there is an unallocated drive in there to format. I'll send the link to the article I found. https://www.technewstoday.com/fix-m2-ssd...howing-up/
Thanks for the read! I'm going through each step of the RN process to understand what will happen.
I adjusted everything I could seem to. My bios doesn’t appear to list a specific M.2 mode, and I’ve checked all peripheral, NVMe, M.2, and PCIe settings without finding a match. It’s possible I’m missing something, so keep exploring. Regarding disk management, is this happening in Windows? Your old boot drive might be connected, so that could be relevant. Should I try installing Windows on the Corsair drive to confirm it works, or could this affect things later? Thanks for your help—I’ve never done anything like this before.
I’d set up an operating system on the newer disk and prepare the older one for storage, but I wouldn’t format it for keeping files. If you need a more suitable solution, I’ll share it here in the discussion and wish you luck! It might also work as a legacy boot method in the BIOS. I don’t often use BIOS settings, so I’m limited to what I’ve built or used before.
I recently installed this motherboard (along with the CPU) and suspect a similar issue occurred when installing my previous M.2 drive. This board only supports NVME M.2 slots, so SATA M.2 drives won’t work. It seems your WD M.2 drive is likely SATA-based. Verify its specifications before proceeding further. If it’s indeed SATA M.2, you can use adapters to link it to your board’s SATA ports or keep it in the older system as a budget backup server. Best of luck!
Often the M2 slots are linked to other components I already own. If I have an M2 slot, it might not work with a SATA port. My setup doesn’t support advanced features like yours, but it could still be worth checking.
