This concerns the longevity of the monitor. The main issue was adjusting the refresh rate to 240Hz. After using it for a few months, I noticed occasional dimming followed by normal operation. Once, when I powered on my PC, I saw lines and shadows similar to those on an external display. Despite not dropping or spilling anything, the problem persisted. I reported it to ViewSonic, who replaced it with a new model. I also have a 2019 Razer Blade Advance with a 240Hz display that functions well until a large line appears on the screen and the display flickers on and off. I can confirm other parts are intact since using an external monitor was fine. As a laptop, I need the display to work for mobility. I tried lowering the refresh rate via SteamLink to Windows 11, which resolved the issue. The display would switch between on and off states, often appearing black. Changing it only to "show only in display 1" fixed the problem. The lines and glitches disappeared. Now I’m thinking about whether the XG2431 was affected by setting the refresh rate too high, if adjusting it could fix it, and if higher refresh rates reduce lifespan compared to standard 60Hz monitors. I have several older monitors still working, so it’s possible this was an isolated incident. I wonder if others review monitors for durability rather than just performance.

TLDNR: not a super useful post. I posted mostly so I can follow this as I am also curious I have no data nor have I heard of any. One would think someone would have already tested this though so I suspect the answer is “no” but I have no data.

It seems the issue is with a display cable, not the monitor itself. A weaker signal can be resolved by reducing the refresh rate.
