I used a Logitech H390 headset recently. One day it stopped working completely. The name changed to "Hi Res USB-C AUDIO," but I can still adjust settings and use my microphone. However, I can't hear anything through the device. It also happened on two other computers, and the volume is at its maximum. What changed?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I'm having trouble getting to your URL. I'll proceed without relying on it. I've also encountered the same issue on two other computers. If both your platform's BIOS, operating system, and chipset drivers are current and the problem continues, it might mean your headset's USB sound card—specifically the inline controller shown in this image—has failed.

When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's important to provide complete system details. Please list the following specifications for your build: CPU, CPU cooler, Motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, Chassis, OS, Monitor. Also include the age of the power supply unit along with its make and model. The BIOS version for your motherboard is also needed at this time.

I evaluated performance on three devices: a Dell Vostro 3500 (Windows 11, no hardware changes), a Dell Inspiron 1318 (Windows 10), and an HP Probook also using Windows 10 without any hardware modifications. Additionally, I can still modify the volume through the in-line control, but I'm unable to hear any sound.

Also, I can modify the volume using the on-screen controls, but I'm not able to hear anything.

The sound wave continued to shift, yet I was unable to perceive any noise.

There could be additional details to consider—particularly if the headset ceased functioning completely (no sound detected). Examine the audio configuration by right-clicking the small speaker icon typically found in the lower right corner of the screen. Begin with the built-in Windows troubleshooters, as they might identify and resolve the issue. Then review the available settings through the Volume mixer and Sound settings. The Sound settings usually offer numerous options; start by focusing on those that seem unfamiliar or unexpected. Make informed adjustments gradually, changing only one element at a time. Record each modification, its location, and the corresponding values for future reference. Screenshots of the printed display can help track changes effectively.

Are there other recognized functional headsets that operate on your computers?
Checks if the Logitech H390 headset functions with other computers that have established working audio.
Assess whether the absence of sound persists within the computer or moves to the headset.
