I was preparing funds over an extended period for a new gaming PC with a 12900KF socket. Since I’m planning to purchase a GPU anyway, I don’t need a dedicated processor graphics card. However, after watching this video about the socket, I’m uncertain what to do—should I hold off for the upcoming Gen Raptor Lake release or wait for a new socket?
There are five $ brackets available now, and I’m not sure the socket will change much between generations. I’d wait for the 13th generation before purchasing the 12th, as it’ll likely be cheaper. You don’t always need the newest model, and the 12th should work just fine.
GN, along with others, created some videos explaining the bracket solution. It seems like a straightforward fix. If you're aiming for an Alder Lake setup, proceed with that, but consider the bracket's cost.
