The Lenovo Thinkpad is not responding, the fan spins, but no lights appear when connected to a power source.
Hello. My Lenovo Thinkpad L13 was off earlier today, and I attempted to restart it this afternoon. When I pressed the power button, the fan increased to full speed but the screen remained inactive. After a couple minutes with no response, I tried shutting it down by holding the power button, yet the fan stayed on. I then plugged it into the wall power, but no lights flashed as they usually do when charging. Since the charger works with another device, I’m hoping to open the case, disconnect the battery manually, and discharge everything before reinserting it. Should I proceed like this? Is there any chance the drive is still intact? Fortunately, I have a full backup of the drive from about a month ago, so important data should be safe. I’d appreciate advice on how to safely remove the SSD and handle the data if possible. This situation shouldn’t be my first week of classes—my workload is already heavy. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for the suggestion about the monitor, but unfortunately there’s no signal detected. I tried pressing the power button for over 20 seconds using the timer, yet the fan continues running at maximum speed and nothing changes.
It's completely broken. Please let the system handle the power while you reach out to support.
I figured it out! Just remove the internal battery, give the power button a few taps, then reconnect it worked. I opened it up, removed the battery (the fan stopped), and took the SSD out for safety. Pressed power a few times to confirm everything was off, then reinserted the battery. After one more press, it started working again! Restarted it, unplugged once more, put it back in the SSD, and reassembled. Everything looks good now!
