My mic doesn't pick up sound after the latest update. If I go under 'Change System Sounds' the mic shows under the 'Recording' tab. It is set as the default device, but when I speak into it, the green bar does not light up. This is indeed the correct mic as it disappears when I unplug it the microphone. Some things that I have tried: Reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers for my specific motherboard (Asrock z370 Extreme4) + computer restart. No luck. Right clicking mic and ensure it isn't muted + sound level and mic boost are all the way up. Some interesting additional information: Blowing into the mic doesn't show a green bar, but banging it against my table does show a green bar (don't worry, I'm not harming it). My other mic works that is a different brand (but I need this mic to work). Before you suspect a problem with the mic itself, the problem is software related as the mic worked before the Windows update AND I have another one of the exact same mics, and it doesn't work either (I know for a fact that both mics worked before the recent update). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077TZJ5MX/ Again, the mic worked just a couple of days ago. I know that I can revert the Windows update. However, I want that to be a last step measure as it seems like a postponement of the inevitable. I would rather fix this problem. Any ideas (besides purchasing a new mic) ?.

I question the microphone issue, since others have experienced audio problems after the newest release. The safest approach is to wait for Microsoft to publish the (preview) update in October and trust it resolves the matter.

Have you verified that Windows 10’s privacy options weren’t reinstated? https://www.howtogeek.com/395296/fix-my-...indows-10/
