The laptop's hard drive crashed and needs a fresh Windows setup on a new SSD.
Hi everyone, My old laptop's hard drive is broken and needs a new one. I want to install Windows 11 on the brand new drive that came with it. Can I use my PC to download and put that software onto the new drive, then just stick the new drive into my laptop? Do I need to format or start fresh the new SSD before putting it in the laptop? Thanks so much, Luduca
No. You won't fit the drive into the desktop and then move it to the laptop. That trick doesn't work. Instead, make a Win 11 install on a USB stick. Then put that USB in your new laptop and boot from there. Use this method to get a clean Windows 11 installation of version 23H2 or newer. You can do this with older versions too, though the screens might look different. The steps are mostly similar overall...
